Sonagachi is the largest red light area in India and Asia's
second-largest red-light district. Sonagachi is located in North Kolkata near
the intersection of Chittaranjan Avenue and Shobhabazar with Beadon Street.
Sonagachi is located at about one kilometer north of Kolkata's Marble Palace
area. Sonagachi can be reached from any locations in Kolkata like from
Dharmtala, Park Street, Bidhan Nagar, Sealdah and other locations by buses of
taxis. To reach Sonagachi, catch the buses which are passing through Shobhabazar.
One can reach Sonagachi by metro train. Catch any metro train going towards
Shobhabazar metro station and get down there. Sonagachi is just 3 minutes
walking distance from Shobhabazar metro station.
Passengers travelling in Sealdah line can reach Sonagachi from
Bidhan Nagar station which is just before Sealdah station. From Bidhan Nagar
one can reach Shobhabazar by bus which will take nearly 5 minutes.
