Eligibility Criteria

A candidate who has passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) or its equivalent Examination is eligible to seek admission to the 1st year of the 3-year B.A/ B.Sc/ B.Com/ BBA (Honours), Course of Studies provided he/she has also passed in English (at least one paper of 100 Marks) and fulfills the conditions given below.

No candidate shall be allowed admission after a lapse of more than 3 years from the year of passing the previous qualifying examination or discontinuation of recognized regular Course of Studies after passing the previous qualifying examination. The year of admission shall not be taken into account while calculating three years from the year of passing the previous qualifying Examination.

For Academic Year 2016-17, a candidate should have passed not before March, 2013 i.e. Academic Year 2013-14.

Candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination or its equivalent from CBSE, CISCE (ISC), WBCHSE (WB Board) and National Institute of Open Schooling need not submit the Migration Certificate for getting Registration under Calcutta University.

Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe Community taking up Honours Course of Study must have obtained a minimum of 40% marks in the aggregate or 40% marks in the subject or related subject at the previous qualifying examination, as the case may be. (Holders of valid SC / ST certificate from State of West Bengal only).

Aggregate marks shall be calculated by adding the marks in top-four subjects in order of marks secured by a candidate. However, marks in compulsory Environmental Education/ Studies shall not be taken into account for calculation of aggregate marks. If the subject “Environmental Science” is studied as an elective subject of 100 marks, it may be taken into account for the purpose of determining the aggregate marks.

In case of non-receipt of minimum valid applications in a particular subject/ discipline the college reserves the right to commence/ hold classes in that particular subject/ discipline.

B.Com (Honours)

A candidate taking up Honours Course in a subject must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate and 45% marks in the subject or related subject at the previous qualifying examination.
OR, 55% marks in the subject or related subject at the previous qualifying examination.

Admission Procedure



Step I

After reading Eligibility Criteria and other related documents, Apply online through college website www.thebges.edu.in for 1st year. After a successful submission of Online Admission Form:
You will receive a SMS with your Login ID & Password.
Print Application Fees Challan.
Print Application Form (Optional)
There are no Physical Application Forms available in college.
Beware of touts claiming to have links in the college for direct admission bypassing the process mention herein. Students are requested not to become victim of such traps as The College does not allow indulgence in such an illegal method of admission.

Step II

Pay Application fees in any branch of Federal Bank through Challan printed in Step 1 (Rs.500 for each application/session).
Your application is valid only after payment of the application fees.
No Online Payment is accepted.
For BBA applicant only Payment of both the Application fees and Admission fess is mandatory to be eligible for Group discussion & Personal Interview (GD & PI). BBA Admission is subject to clearance of GD & PI.

Step III

After payment of the application fees, wait for the merit list. And if you want to apply for another course or session follow step 4. 

Please Note : Application form or paid application fees challan is not required to be submitted physically in the college. All information with regards to admission procedure and merit list will be published on college website a well as on the College Notice Board in due course of time.

Step IV

Follow the steps given below if you want to edit your application form or apply for a different course/ session or print your application fees challan again :
Visit college website www.thebges.edu.in
Click on "Admission’s 2016-17"
Click on "Applicant’s login"
Login with your "Login ID" and "password"

You can now edit your application form, print a duplicate application form and/or challan, apply for a new course/ session and also change your login password.
