A strong earthquake measuring 6.8 on Richter scale was felt all across North east states between around 4.38am and 4.39am. The epicentre of the earthquake was Imphal. Tremors were felt across Myanmar-India Border region and in entire northeast India.
One man died and 50 injured in Manipur due to the earthquake. In Siliguri many people are injured. No other loss of lives or property is reported.
An aftershock is felt in North east areas at around 6.15 am.
Tremor was felt in entire West Bengal.
