Bankura Banga Vidyalaya


This is the oldest school in Bankura district. In 1825 it was started as a Government aided ‘Pathshala’, Sitanath Chakraborty Pathshala. At that time it was popular as Bangla School.

Glorious moments of this school


1868: Yogesh Chandra Roy Vidyanidhi, Eminent Scholar, was admitted in this school.

1875: Ramananda Chattopadhyay, eminent Journalist and Editor of the reputed journal secured a prestigious scholarship.

1949: The school was promoted to Madhyamik Vidyalay.

1949: Eminent educationalist  Dr. Shyamaprasad Mukhopadhyay visited Bankura Banga Vidyalaya school.

1963: This school of Bankura district was promoted to Higher Secondary.

2004:  District Computer Centre started in this school building.

2006: Different Vocational courses started in this school.
