Asutosh College was founded and established in 1961 by the famous mathematician, Sir Asutosh Mukherjee. The college is affiliated under the University of Calcutta. The rich heritage of the college plays an active role in contribution to its own culture.

Courses offered in Asutosh College
The college offers Honours bachelor degree courses for undergraduate level in Arts, Science and Management. It offers a post graduate course in Environmental Science.
Facilities available in Asutosh College
It is the only college in South Kolkata having hostel facilities. It has a Gymnasium. Tournaments and competitions are held on cricket and football. The students’ common room provides indoor games facilities. The college has developed the need of social environment by re-activating National Social Service (NSS). Cultural and academic are organized in the Asutosh Memorial Hall. Lectures and academic workshops are held in the Seminar Hall regularly. The library provides a well stock of books, reading room facilities and computer facilities. Libraries and laboratories are separate for all departments. The Student Union plays an active role in maintaining discipline, organizing cultural programs and competitions and publishing Annual College Magazine.
