In 2011 assembly election, Quazi Abdul Gaffar of Congress won Baduria assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Md. Selim Gayen of CPI (M). Quazi Abdul Gaffar got 89,952 votes, Md. Selim Gayen got 66,992 votes and Sukumar Dey of BJP got 6,616 votes.


In 2006 West Bengal assembly polls, Mohammad Shelim of CPI (M) defeated his nearest rival Abdul Gaffar Kazi of Congress.


In 2001 West Bengal assembly polls, Abdul Gaffar Kazi of Congress defeated his nearest rival Sambhu Biswas of CPI (M).
