After delimitation, Barracpur is composed of Barracpur and Titagarh municipality.
In 2011 assembly election, Silbhadra Dutta of Trinamool Congress won Barrackpore assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Dr. Madhusudan Samanta of CPI (M). Silbhadra Dutta got 79,515 votes, Dr. Madhusudan Samanta got 43,392 votes and Shambhu Nath Gupta of BJP got 5,040 votes.
