West Bengal assembly election results of Sabang constituency



Constituency number: 226

In 2016 assembly election, Manas Ranjan Bhunia of Congress won  Sabang assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Nirmal Ghosh of AITC. Manas Ranjan Bhunia got 1,26,987 votes, Nirmal Ghosh got 77,820 votes.

In 2011 assembly election, Manas Ranjan Bhunia of Congress won  Sabang assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Ram Pada Sahoo of CPI (M). Manas Ranjan Bhunia got 98,755 votes, Ram Pada Sahoo got 85,571 votes and Sabyasachi Sau of BJP got 2,507 votes.
In 2006 state assembly elections, Dr. Manas Bhunia of Congress defeated his nearest rival Tushar Kanti Laya of CPI (M).

In 2001 West Bengal assembly elections, CPI (M) nominated candidate Tushar Kanti Laya initially won this seat defeating Dr. Manas Bhunia of Congress by a very low margin of 397 votes. In the re election, ordered by Calcutta High Court Dr. Manas Bhunia won the seat.

In 1996 state assembly elections, Makhan Lal Bangal, an independent candidate defeated his nearest rival Dr. Manas Bhunia of Congress.

In 1991 state assembly elections, Dr. Manas Bhunia of Congress defeated his nearest rival Gouranga Samanta of CPI (M).

In 1987 state assembly elections, Dr. Manas Bhunia of Congress won this assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Hare Krishna Samanta of CPI (M).

In 1982 state assembly elections, Dr. Manas Bhunia of Congress won this assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Hemanta Kumar Jana, an Independent candidate.

In 1977 state assembly elections, Gouranga Samanta of Bharater Biplabi Communist Party won this assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Surya Kanta Mahapatra of Janata Party.
