After delimitation, Asansol Uttar is a new assembly constituency of West Bengal.
In 2021 assembly election, Moloy Ghatak of Trinamool Congress won Asansol Uttar assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Krishnendu Mukherjee of BJP. Moloy Ghatak got 100,931 votes and Krishnendu Mukherjee got 79,821 votes.
In 2016 assembly election, Moloy Ghatak of Trinamool Congress won Asansol Uttar assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Nirmal Karmakar of BJP. Moloy Ghatak got 84,751 votes, Nirmal Karmakar got 60,818 votes.
In 2011 assembly election, Moloy Ghatak of Trinamool Congress won Asansol Uttar assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Ranu Roychowdhury of CPI (M). Moloy Ghatak got 96,011 votes, Ranu Roychowdhury got 48,218 votes and Madan Mohan Choubey of BJP got 6,750 votes.
