Eligibility Criteria

A: Minimum Marks

	  55% for M.Phil in other subjects
College Teacher (possessing 5 years
teaching experience in Govt.	50% (40% for Economics Only)

	  45% for International Relations & Sociology
	  50% for M.Phil in other subjects
S.C. / S.T.	40%

B: Relevant Subjects

M.Phil course in	Relevant subjects
Bengali	M.A. in Bengali or Comparative Literature
English	M.A. in English or Comparative Literature
Philosophy, History	M.A. in the subject
Economics	M.A/M.Sc in Economics
Comparative Literature	M.A. in any subject
International Relations	M.A. in International Relations/ Political Science
Sanskrit	M.A. in Sanskrit or Comparative Literature with Sanskrit
	as one of the pass subjects carrying at least 300 marks at
	the undergraduate level.

Sociology	M.A. in Sociology
Education	M.A. in Education

Selection Procedure for M.Phil Courses

For Sociology and	Selection of candidates will be made in order of merit,
	ascertained on the basis of 50% weight on marks obtained in
Philosophy	an admission test* and 50% weight on aggregate marks in
	Master's programme.
For Economics, English,
History, Sanskrit, Bengali,	Selection  of  candidates  will  be  made  in  order  of  merit,
Comparative Literature,	ascertained on the basis of marks obtained in an admission test*.
International Relations
and Education

* The candidate must secure at least 50% marks in the written admission test for consideration in the merit list for admission.

Duration of the examination: Two hours (two and a half hours for Economics)
