Ruma Guha Thakurata Dead

Ruma Guha Thakurata, mother of noted singer Amit Kumar and founder of Calcutta Youth Choir is no more. Ruma Guha Thakurata died on 2 June 2019 in the morning - nearly 6.00 AM at her own housr at Ballygaunge Place while she was in sleep. Ruma Guha Thakurata was 84 years old.

Ruma Guha Thakurata was born in 1934 and her parents were Satyen Ghosh and Sati Ghosh, both were from cultural world. Ruma Guha Thakurata was first wife of legendary singer Kishore Kumar and they got married in 1952 although they were separated in 1958. In 1960 Ruma Guha Thakurata got married with Arup Guha Thakurata. Singer Shromona Chakraborty and Ayan Guha Thakurata are children of Ruma Guha Thakurata from her second marriage.

During her last phase of life, Ruma Guha Thakurata used to stay more time with her first son Amit Kumar at Mumbai.

Ruma Guha Thakurata has acted in many films like Ganga, Abhijan, Nirjan Saikate, Balika Badhu, Dadar Kirti, 36 Chowringhee Lane, Ganashatru, Wheel Chair and many more. Ruma Guha Thakurata is one of the rare actress who has acted in Satyajit Ray, Tapan Sinha and Tarun Majumdar films.

Ruma Guha Thakurata has lended her voice as playback singer in films like  Lukochuri, Barnali, Polatak, Tin Konya, Joradighir Chowdhury Paribar, Antony Firingee, Baghini, Bakso Badal, Jodi Jantem, Mera Dharam Meri Maa, Amrita Kumbher Sandhane.

Amit Kumar will reach Kolkata today (3 June 2019) to complete the funeral ceremony.

Bollywood actress Leena Chandravarkar was born on 29 August 1950 in the Dharwar/Karwar region in the State of Karnataka, in the Marathi-speaking Chandavarkar family. The sweet faced lady has worked in many memorable Bollywood Hindi films like Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi (1970), Humjoli (1970), Rakhwala (1971), Jaane-Anjaane (1971), Manchali (1973), Bairaag (1976), Aafat (1977) and many others.

Leena's first husband was Siddharth Bandodkar, the son of Dayanand, the first Chief Minister of Goa. Siddharth  died in a road accident and the actress tied the knot for the second time with actor-singer, Kishore Kumar during 1980, Kishore Kumar was 20 years older than Leena. Sumeet Kumar is the son of Leena Chandravarkar and Kishore Kumar.
