Kharagpur Assembly Constituency Election Results

Constituency number: 228

In 2021 assembly election, Hiranmoy Chatterjee (Hiran) of BJP won Kharagpur assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Pradip Sarkar of Trinamool Congress. Hiranmoy Chatterjee got 79,607 votes and Pradip Sarkar got 75,836 votes.

In 2016 West Bengal assembly election, Dinen Roy of AITC won Kharagpur assembly seat.

In 2011 assembly election, Nazmul Haque of CPI (M) won Kharagpur assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Bilkis Khanam of Trinamool Congress. Nazmul Haque got 70,178votes, Bilkis Khanam got 67,674 votes and Shuba Raj, an independent candidate got 4,092 votes.
In 2006 state assembly elections, Sk. Nazmul Haque of CPI (M) defeated his nearest rival Ajit Maity of Trinamool Congress. Sk. Nazmul Haque won this assembly seat for consecutive five times, from 1987 to 2006.

In 2001 West Bengal assembly elections, CPI (M) nominated candidate Sk. Nazmul Haque won this seat defeating Ajit Maity of Trinamool Congress.

In 1996 state assembly elections, Sk. Nazmul Haque of CPI (M) defeated his nearest rival Ranjit Basu of Congress.

In 1991 state assembly elections, Sk. Nazmul Haque of CPI (M) defeated his nearest rival Nirmal Ghosh of Congress.

In 1987 state assembly elections, Sk. Nazmul Haque of CPI (M) won this assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Ranjit Basu of Congress.

In 1982 state assembly elections, Sk. Siraj Ali of CPI (M) won this assembly seat defeating his nearest rival independent candidate Deben Das.

In 1977 state assembly elections, Sk. Nazmul Haque of CPI (M) won this assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Deben Das of CPI.
