After delimitation, Chandipur is a new assembly constituency of Purba Midnapur.
In the 2021 assembly elections in West Bengal, Soham Chakraborty of Trinamool Congress defeated his nearest rival Pulak Kanti Guriya of BJP and won the Chandipur assembly seat. Soham Chakraborty got 109,770 votes and Pulak Kanti Guriya got 96,298 votes.
In the 2016 assembly elections in West Bengal, Amiya Kanti Bhattacharjee of Trinamool Congress defeated his nearest rival Mangal Chand Pradhan of CPI (M) and won the Chandipur assembly seat.
