In the 2021 assembly elections in West Bengal, Manoj Kumar Oraon of BJP defeated his nearest rival Leos Kujur of Trinamool Congress and won the Kumargram assembly seat. Manoj Kumar Oraon got 111,974 votes and Leos Kujur got 100,973 votes.

In the 2016 assembly elections in West Bengal, James Kujur of AITC defeated his nearest rival Manoj Kumar Oran of RSP and won the Kumargram assembly seat.
