Presidency University MA MSC Admission 2015



Postgraduate Admission for the academic session 2015-16

All applicants who have received the B.A. (Hons)/B.Sc. (Hons) degree at the end of the 2014 -2015 or 2013- 2014 academic years1, with the requisite marks mentioned below, from any recognised University, will be eligible to appear in the test for entrance to the two-year postgraduate (M.A./M.Sc.) programme of Presidency University.

The admission of SC/ST/OBC-A/B candidates (with valid certificates from West Bengal) will follow the reservation policies of West Bengal State Higher Education Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Act, 2013 and West Bengal State Higher Education Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Rules, 2014.
 In exceptional cases, students who have obtained their Bachelor’s degree before 2014 will be permitted to sit for the Admission test. Such candidates should write an email to help.admission@presiuniv.ac.in at least two days before the application deadline and seek approval from the Chairpersons of the Admission Committee before submitting the application. Responses will be given within 24 hours.




Candidates, who have appeared or are appearing for the final B.A./B.Sc. Examination at the time of admission, but do not have their final results, may seek provisional admission, on the basis of marks obtained up to the previous parts of their Bachelor’s examination. If selected, they must submit their final marksheet by 31 August, demonstrating that they fulfill the minimum condition of eligibility, failing which the candidature will be cancelled.

Direct Admission for candidates from Presidency University

Up to 60% of the PG seats in the respective departments will be filled through the direct admission of the candidates from Presidency University, who have obtained CGPA equal to or above the cutoff grades given below:

For admission to Bengali, English, Hindi, History, Geography, Philosophy, Political Science, Sociology: CGPA of 6.5 or above in their Major subject.

For admission to Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Applied Economics, Applied Geology, Mathematics, Physics and Statistics: CGPA of 7.5 or above in their Major subject.

Within this category, the fraction of seats reserved and CGPA cutoff for SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B candidates will follow the reservation policies of West Bengal State Higher Education Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Act, 2013 and West Bengal State Higher Education Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Rules, 2014.

Admission test

After the seats for direct admission are filled by eligible candidates from Presidency University, the remaining seats in each category (General/ SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B) will be filled from the merit list based on the marks obtained in the Admission Test (2 hours, 100 marks) for each subject.
