Tourist place Kamarpukur – how to reach and where to stay



Kamarpukar, situated in the Arambag subdivision of the Hooghly District in West Bengal. It is the birthplace of Sri Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. Sri Ramakrishna was born here in 17 February of 1836. Kamarpukur attracts tourists from all over the country and the world. This is a place where visitors can get spiritually refreshed and elevated.


A beautiful temple of Thakur Sri Ramakrishna is built in 1951. A marble statue of Sri Ramakrishna is installed in the temple. Gradually guest house, library, dispensary and schools are constructed in this locality. 



What to visit at Kamarpukur



The main attraction of tourists is the Sri Ramakrishna Mandir. Every day in the morning at 4.00 am, Mangal Arati is performed here which is a must see for the tourists. There is a belief that during the Arati, the presence of Sri Ramakrishna is felt here in the Sri Ramakrishna Mandir. There are many other places of tourist attractions. The small house at Kamarpukur where Sri Ramakrishna lived is another attraction to the tourists. The historical Haldar Dighi is still there where Sri Ramakrishna used to take bath. The Path Shala (Nursery school) where Sri Ramakrishna studied during his childhood is maintained with great care. Among the ancient temples related with Sri Ramakrishna’s life, Yogi’s Siva temple, Raghubir Temple, Temple of Gopeswar Siva, Mukundapur Siva Temple are still there at Kamarpukur. Dhani Kamarini's Temple and Chinu Shankhari's birth-place attracts tourists. 



The cremation ground Bhutir-Khal lie on the north-east of the village. This place used to attract child Sri Ramakrishna. 


Lilas of Sri Ramakrishna is spread in every corner of Kamarpukur. Presence of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa is felt every where in Kamarpukur by devotees.

Jayrambati, the famous birth place of Sri Maa Sarada Devi is 3 miles west of Kamarpukur. Bishnupur is located 30 miles west of Kamarpukur. 



How to reach Kamarpukur – transport services



Tarakeshwar railway station is about 50 km away from Kamarpukur. From Howrah local trains are available to reach Tarakeshwar. From Tarakeshwar taxi and bus services are available. 



From Kolkata bus services also connect Kamarpukur with Kolkata. During morning buses are available after each one and half hour. 



From Burdwan one can reach Kamarpukur by road. Super buses are available in every hour. Buses in the route of Burdwan to Ghatal, Burdwan to Haldia etc passes through Kamarpukur. 



Where to stay at Kamarpukur – hotels and lodges





Kamarpukur is a village area so there are no such big hotels or lodges. It is the best to stay inside the Ramakrishna Math complex. Staying at Ramakrishna Math complex of Kamarpukur will be a memorable experience feeling the presence of Sri Sri Thakur everywhere. There are two guest houses in the Math.
