After delimitation, Basirhat Uttar is a new assembly constituency.
In 2021 assembly election, Rafikul Islam Mondal of Trinamool Congress won Basirhat Uttar assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Md Baijid Amin of RSMP. Rafikul Islam Mondal got 137,216 votes and Md Baijid Amin got 47,865 votes.
In 2016 assembly election, Rafikul Islam Mondal of CPI (M) won Basirhat Uttar assembly seat defeating his nearest rival ATM Abdullah of Trinamool Congress.
In 2011 assembly election, ATM Abdullah of Trinamool Congress won Basirhat Uttar assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Subid Ali Gazi of CPI (M). ATM Abdullah got 87,899 votes, Subid Ali Gazi got 56,948 votes and Subodh Kumar Chakraborty of BJP got 6,938 votes.
