Brief report of first phase election in Gujarat


Assemble election of 87 constituencies in Gujarat is completed with total 68 percent polling. Polling started at 8.00 am under proper security. In the early hours polling percentage was very low but after 11.00 am, the percentage start increasing.

Chief minister Narendra Modi earlier urged people of Gujarat to cast their valuable votes. The Gujarat Parivartan party (GPP) chief Keshubhai Patel expressed his confidence of an overwhelming majority in this assembly election.

No reports of disturbances were reported although there was a clash between Congress and BJP workers outside a polling booth in Valsad.


Total 1,81,77,953 voters casted their opinion. Male voters were 95,75,278 and female 86,02,557 voters. 118 other voters also casted their votes.

BJP has fielded candidates on all the 87 seats of first phase of polling, 84 Congress candidates and 84 GPP candidates are contesting in this phase of election.

Important seats in first phase of election in Gujarat: Surendranagar, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Amreli and Bhavngar. Visavadar, Dhoraji, Botad, Limbadi etc.

Top contenders in first phase of election in Gujarat: Keshubhai Patel, Ganpat Vasava, RC Faldu, Arjun Modhwadia and Shaktisinh Gohil, Vithhal Radadia (Dhoraji), Kunvarji Bavalia (Botad) and Somabhai Patel (Limbadi), Kanu Bhalala, Santokhben Jadeja, Karsan Dula Odedara, Kanubhai Kalsaria, Vajubhai Vala, Vasuben Trivedi, Narottam Patel, Mangubhai Patel, Purshottam Solanki, Kiritsinh Rana, Dilip Sanghani, Kanubhai Bhalala, Mohan Kundaria and Ranjit Gilitvala among others.
