In the 2026 West Bengal state assembly election, Anandamoy Barman of BJP defeated his nearest rival Shankar Malakar of AITC and won the Matigara-Naxalbari assembly seat. Anandamoy Barman got 166,905 votes and Shankar Malakar got 62,640 votes.
In the 2021 West Bengal state assembly election, Anandamoy Barman of BJP defeated his nearest rival Rajen Sundas of AITC and won the Matigara-Naxalbari assembly seat. Anandamoy Barman got 139,785 votes and Rajen Sundas got 68,937 votes.
