Bharat Ratna for Atal Bihari Vajpayee

 

Former Prime Minister of India, Atal Bihari Vajpayee is awarded with India's highest civilian honour Bharat Ratna. Freedom fighter Madan Mohan Malaviya also received the award.The award is the birthday gift to Atal Bihari Vajpayee from all Indians. 25^th December is the birthday of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. 

Bharat Ratna is India's highest civilian honour and so far 45 individuals have received the award, including Vajpayee Ji and Madan Mohan Malaviya. Atal Bihari Vajpayee is the first BJP leader to be given this honour.

Long time friend and co-party man LK Advani backed Vajpayee's name for the Bharat Ratna and he said: “A Bharat Ratna for Atal Bihari Vajpayee should not be seen in terms of a reward for doing his duty but as an award that recognises his stature. It would be very appropriate and befitting for a patriot like Vajpayee."
