Ganga Sagar Mela which is also known as Sagar Mela or Ganga Snan is a special day for Hindu pilgrims. Thousands of people come from different parts of the country to take holy dip in River Ganga before She merges in the Bay of Bengal Sea during Makar Sankranti day at Sagar Island or Sagardwip in West Bengal. The Ganga Sagar Mela 2026 will begin on Makar Sankranti on Thursday, January 14, 2026, and the main event will run from January 10 to 18, 2026. During this time, pilgrims will take a holy dip at the confluence of the Ganges and the Bay of Bengal and visit the Kapil Muni Temple.
