Loreto College is a women’s college affiliated to the University of Calcutta. It was the first college in West Bengal to be assessed by NAAC. It was awarded the highest rating of five stars in 2000. The College was Re-accredited by NAAC in December 2006 and was awarded an A grade. The College had the 3rd Cycle of Re-accreditation by NAAC in September 2012 and was awarded an A grade.

A candidate wishing to apply for B. A. Honours must choose her Honours subject from any ONE of the above and her TWO Elective subjects from Groups I to VIII given below, (NOT TAKING MORE THAN ONE SUBJECT FROM EACH GROUP as Honours / Elective subjects).
Please note, the Honours and Elective subjects must not be identical. The Honours and Elective subjects must not be from the same Group.

The two Core Electives offered are CC-1Education and CC-2History / Political Science/ English one Generic Elective is to be selected from :Hindi / Bengali / Journalism & Mass Commuication
*Please note, Psychology Honours cannot be taken if the applicant did not have Psychology/Pure Mathematics/Biology as a subject at the Plus Two level (Class XII level). Elective Psychology can be taken only if the applicant had Psychology in Class XII.
*Please note, Elective Geography can be taken only if the applicant had Geography in Class XII.
**Self-financing courses – an additional Monthly Tuition Fee for all the Semesters has to be paid for these. If we do not have at least 25 students opting for each of these courses, the particular course will not be offered.
