Eligibility Criteria for Amity University PhD Admission 2020

• Candidates seeking admission to the Ph.D. Program, whether full time or part time, shall have to possess requisite percentage of marks / grade point average in qualifying examination as indicated below:
• The required minimum qualification for admission to a Ph.D Program shall normally be a two years Master’s OR M.Phil Degree from any accredited Indian or Foreign University in the relevant field. She/he must have obtained 55% marks or Equivalent Grade in the Master’s or M.Phil Degree (applicable for all PhD programs except in Engineering and Technology).
• Applicants who have successfully completed their first year degree course (Undergraduate course) by 04/June/1986, irrespective of the duration, shall be treated at par with those who have completed a three year first degree course. Those who hold a two year first degree and had enrolled for this course after 04/June/1986, will be required to undergo a further one year bridge course. • Applicants with M. Tech / M.E./M.S. qualification in relevant disciplines with excellent academic record with minimum CGPA of 6.0 on a 10 point scale or equivalent or 60% marks and with 60% aggregate in Xth , XIIth and B.Tech/B.E. will be considered eligible for admission in Ph.D. Programs in Engineering and Technology.
• For Ph.D. in Law, the applicant should possess a Master’s degree in Law with minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade or M. Phil in law.
• Applicants with Chartered Accountancy (CA) Qualification from ‘The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI)/ Cost and Works Accountancy of ICWAI/ Company Secretary of ICSI with a minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade may be considered eligible for admission to Ph.D. Programs in the relevant field.
• Foreign/ NRI applicants / Applicants with a Masters’ degree from a foreign university must apply with an equivalence certificate of AIU along with the Online Application Form.
• Exemption from Written Examination:
• Candidates who have cleared an All India National Level Competitive Examination like NET of UGC / CSIR / ICAR (ASRB) / GPAT / ICMR / GATE / DST – INSPIRE within the last 2 years from the time of applying for PhD at Amity, shall be exempted from the written test of the PhD Selection Process on the basis of the documents uploaded by them with the application form. Only those who submit valid documents via form/ mail latest by two days prior to the selected PET date will be considered for exemption. Candidates who do not receive a message of exemption on their admission microsite/ admit card will be required to appear for the PET and Interview BOTH on the selected date.

Exemption from Written Exam 

• Candidates who have cleared the NET-JRF/ LS of UGC/ CSIR / ICAR/ ICMR/GATE in last 2 years, shall be exempted from the entrance examination.

Classification of Applicants:

•  An Indian candidate applying for admission to the PhD. Program shall be classified under any one of the following categories:
• Sponsored Candidates: Sponsored candidates getting Government / Semi Govt. / Private or other Scholarships/ Fellowships /stipends, who apply for admission through the sponsoring organizations
• Regular Self – Financed Candidates: students, self- employed or other working / non-working candidates
• Corporate Research Scholar: Candidates working with reputed organizations in India and having at least five years experience and possessing minimum prescribed academic qualifications
• Working Faculty other than Amity: Faculty members of other Universities /schools and recognized/ approved institutions/schools in India, possessing minimum prescribed academic qualifications
• Regular Academic Staff of Amity: Regular academic staff of Department/ Constituent Units of Amity University who are allowed to register for a PhD. on part time basis
• Regular Non-Academic Staff of Amity: Regular member of non-academic staff of the University and its Departments/ Constituent Units who satisfies eligibility qualifications and is allowed to be registered for a part-time PhD. program
• Amity Research Fellow (ARF): Candidates working under fellowship scheme of Amity Science, Technology & Innovation Foundation (ASTIF) 

  

Selection Process 

• Eligible candidates will be required to undertake PET (PhD. Entrance Test), on the date selected by them. PET will be a computer-based test (CBT) followed by an Interview, on the same day
• Selected candidates will get intimation of their selection through an Online Admission Letter which can be printed from the Admission Microsite. Details regarding payment of fees at the time of admission, date, time and venue for commencement of the academic session will be mentioned in the admission letter
• Offer of admission will be provisional & valid only for the specific program opted by the candidate as well as for the same academic session. The offer of admission will automatically stand cancelled if the conditions are not fulfilled by the specified time

Entrance Test

• The Entrance Test shall be of one and a half hours duration (i.e. 90 minutes) and of 70 marks consisting of 95 objective types of questions. The Entrance Test will have two Sections (administered in one go), as mentioned here under:
• Section 1 – General– 50 Questions of Master’s level of 0.5 marks each (25 marks)
• Section 1 shall be common to all the Applicants for testing the General Knowledge & Research Aptitude, covering questions from the following areas:
• General Awareness
• English Language
• Logical Reasoning
• Quantitative Analysis
• Data Analysis and Interpretation
• Section 2 – Program Specific– 45 Questions of Master’s level of 1 mark each (45 marks)
• Section 2 shall be Program / Subject Specific as per proposed PhD. program of the applicant. (viz Management, Biotechnology, Food Technology, Physics, Law, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Microbiology, Psychology, English etc) This section shall be divided into two parts – 25 questions shall be from the PhD Program subject & 20 questions from the PhD Program subject / allied subject
