Burj Khalifa Pandal Sealed Trains Cancelled To Control Crowd

Covid-19 3rd wave may hit the state anytime, Doctors are dead against the crowd in puja pandals, High Court previously permitted as many as 45-60 people for the big pandals and 10-15 people permitted for the smaller pandal. But what we have seen during the Durga puja days?
No mask, no physical distancing, people became mad. On Maha Navami evening Burj Khalifa pandal was sealed and trains towards Sealdah were cancelled to control crowd.

“As the crowd was swelling every day, a decision was jointly taken by the police and the puja committee to stop pandal hoppers from visiting the pandal to avoid any kind of accidents. We have facilities to showcase it virtually. That would continue,” said Sujit Bose, state fire minister and main organiser of the puja Sreebhumi Sporting Club.

Earlier on 11 October, Maha Shasthi, the laser show of the pandal had to be called off after at least three pilots complained to the air traffic control (ATC) tower at the NSCBI airport that they were having difficulties while landing.

2021 Kolkata Durga Puja Theme

Suruchi Sangha

Puja theme of Suruchi Sangha is 'Abdar'.

   Sreebhumi Sporting Club
Kolkata’s Sreebhumi Sporting Club, Lake Town has replicated Dubai’s Burj Khalifa. The club has designed an iconic 145 feet pandal based on the theme of Dubai’s Burj Khalifa.

Hatibagan Sarbojanin Club

The Hatibagan Sarbojanin Club theme is ‘Pichutan‘, which means a yearning or a longing for something that you cannot go back to. Simply put, it recreates the Kolkata of the 70s. This year’s puja will be conducted to show how it used to be performed in old Kolkata several decades ago.

Nabin Pally Puja

The pandal has been designed in a way so as to pay tribute to those who died during the second wave of the Covid infection.

Jodhpur Park

Naktala Udayan Sangha

One of the biggest crowd-pullers of South Kolkata, Naktala Udayan Sangha is keeping things topical with its theme titled ‘chol chitra,’ which translates to an exodus. The theme will explore the migrant crisis around the world with a focus on how displacement affects families.

Maddox Square

This year too, visitors will not be allowed to sit inside the park

75 Palli, Bhowanipore

Bhowanipore’s 75 Palli will offer an authentic look at Purulia, specifically the Chhau communities who were hit particularly hard during Covid.

Goddess Durga in Mahalaya Special Show 2021

Bengali actress Subhashree Ganguly is likely to play Goddess Durga in Mahalaya special program in 2021.

All leading Bengali channels seem to be competing with each other regarding Mahalaya special shows on TV. Popular actress Koel Mallick is likely to essay Goddess Durga in a Mahalaya special program on one of the popular channels. Rumour is that Subhashree has been roped in by Zee Bangla.

Yet another channel, which launched 4 new shows on Monday, is keen on casting none other than Koel as Maa Durga. The channel wants to rope in a leading male television actor as Lord Shiva in the Mahalaya special show, if reports are to be believed.

Star jalsha, on which actress  Mimi Chakraborty was seen playing Goddess Durga last year, is keen on casting Ditipriya Roy in its Mahalaya special show. Both Ditipriya and the channel are tight-lipped about it.
