Upcoming Bengali Film Teen Kanya From Sabyasachi Bhowmick

Sabyasachi Bhowmick, maker of short films like ‘6 th August’ and ‘We Are Locked’ is all set to make his first full-length feature film as a director. Title of the film is Teen Kanya and it has three interlinked stories namely ‘Binodini’, ‘Bedsheet’ and ‘Good Morning Revolution’. The three female leads in these three stories are Rituparna Sen (Rii), Sayantani Guhathakurta and Amrita Chattopadhyay.

The film is based on rediscovering the inner self in every woman in the society.
The first story ‘Binodini’ sheds light on male dominance in the entertainment world against which Binodini (Rituparna) decides to raise her voice.

The second story ‘Bedsheet’ tries to see the so-called elite class in our society from a woman (Sayantani Guhathakurta) who belongs to a middle class society when a bedsheet gets stolen. Ishaan Majumder is casted opposite Sayantani.


The third story is on a college girl, Amrita Chattopadhyay and how her life changes forever when she gets involved in politics.

Film Teen Kanya is expected to hit the floors next month.

Latest News of Q and Rii – they are back together for a play

Relationship of Q and Rii have broken up still they continue to work in films and now for the first time they will be seen in a stage production.

Q has provided the music concept of Supratim Roy's Baby K and Rii will make her debut on stage as the eponymous character created by late author Nabarun Bhattacharya.

The plot of the act Baby K is about the petrol crisis in the world in the backdrop of the American invasion of Iraq. Baby K is a sex worker who survives on five litres of petrol every day. The series on her begins with Baby K's relationship with medical representative Parijat and ends with the final explosion of the human bomb.

Bengali version Bigg Boss - who are the contestants

Bengali version Bigg Boss session I will start from 17 June 2013. Regional TV channel ETV will telecast the reality show. Bigg Boss is one of the most popular reality TV shows in recent times and in West Bengal this is the first time the game will be played by number of contestants for 99 days. Bengali and Hindi film superstar Mithun Chakraborty will be the host of Bengali Bigg Boss session I.

Till today the contestant names are not revealed. There is a strong buzz that Bengali film personalities - Koneenica Banerjee and Rudranil Ghosh are going to be part of Big Boss. Although the actors denied to comments on the rumour but it seems that they will participate in the Bigg Boss reality show. The other names which are also in news are Sudipta Chakraborty, Hiraan, Rii.

Rituparna Sen aka Rii – offbeat Bengali actress

Bengali offbeat actress Rituparna Sen is mistaken as famous Bengali actress Rituparna Sengupta. Rituparna Sen is famous as Rii. Rii is well-known in the film industry as seductress and she is comfortable with this tag.

Rii herself confesses that she is bisexual. Rii is in a relationship with director of her most of the films – Q. Rii admits that she was in love with her cousin sister also. Even today she gets attracted towards women.

Another Bengali actress, Paoli Dam shot nude scenes in Vimukti Jayasundara's film 'Chatrak' and this was hot news in 2011 and raised many debates in Bengali film industry. Bengali film actors were divided over the nude bold scenes of Paoli Dam in the film. In film ‘Gandu’, Rii had shot nude scenes and that was six months before Paoli Dam’s shot. Rii maintained silence on the frontal nudity issue. Rii has shot full frontal nudity in films ‘Gandu’ and ‘Cosmic Sex’. Rii’s opinion is that there is nothing wrong in portraying the current situation.

Rii does not consider Poali Dam or other actresses as her competitor so far as nudity is concerned in films. Rii sees herself as her main competitor.

Rii admits that she acts with her body and will continue to do so in future.

In film Sadhana, Rii is playing the role of an ashram sadhika. The film explores the origin of sexuality through the woman.

Rii thinks that there is audience for movies like Gandu or Sadhana. Sadhana is not yet completed but for the film Gandu, they are searching for distributors. Gandu is not yet released.

Rii has no problem in accepting offers from mainstream commercial cinema. For Rii, it is either good or bad cinema and she is ready to even appear in item number.
