Ganga
Sagar Mela which is also known as Ganga Sagar Yatra or Ganga Snan, is the
annual gathering of Hindu pilgrims on the day of Makar Sankranti to take holy
dip at the confluence of river Ganges and Bay of
Bengal and offer prayers in the Kapil Muni Temple. Ganga Sagar
Mela 2016 date is January 15.
People also take holy dip on January 14 and January 16.

Ganga Sagar mela begins a couple of day early and ends on the day after
Sankranti.
How to Reach Sagar
Go to Kakdwip from
Kolkata by bus or taxi and distance between the two locations is 135 km/ away
by bus or taxi. From Kakdwip reach Sagar Island by ferry which takes nearly 45
minutes.
