After delimitation, Madhyamgram is a new assembly constituency.
In 2021 assembly election, Rathin Ghosh of Trinamool Congress won Madhyamgram assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Rajasree Rajbanshi of BJP. Rathin Ghosh got 112,741 votes and Rajasree Rajbanshi got 64,615 votes.
In 2016 assembly election, Rathin Ghosh of Trinamool Congress won Madhyamgram assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Tapas Mazumder of INC.
In 2011 assembly election, Rathin Ghosh of Trinamool Congress won Madhyamgram assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Ranjit Choudhury of Forward Bloc. Rathin Ghosh got 99,841 votes, Ranjit Choudhury got 65,173 votes and Bijoy Banerjee of BJP got 5,350 votes.
