Bankiput tourist spot in Purba Medinipur




Bankiput may not be popular as a sea beach but this spot has got every possibility to become a popular tourist spot. Red crabs will be found here popping their heads from their burrows. Sea beach, lighthouse in nearby Dariapur and an temple of Kapalkundala are the main attractions of Bankiput. The temple is of Bankim Chandra’s famous novel Kapalkundala.

Nearby attractions of Bankiput


Bankiput is located near to Junput – another sea beach and Contai. Bankiput is in Purba Medinipur. Famous sea beachs like Digha, Mandarmani, Shankarpur and other less popular sea beaches like Talsari, Udaypur and Tajpur are located near Bankiput and can be reached within an hour or so from Bankiput. The eco-village of Monchasa is also near Bankiput and can be reached from Bankiput via Kalinagar.

How to reach Bankiput


If you are travelling by car, reach Contai first and then proceed through the road towards Junput.  From Junput follow the road connecting Baghaput. After reaching halfway towards Baghaput, you will find a bifurcation towards Bankiput.

By public transport, trekkers are available from Contai to Junput, Junput to Baghaput and then Bankiput. Contai can be reached by train.

Where to stay at Bankiput – hotels and lodges


Since Bankiput is not a popular sea beach, till today there is only one two-storey guesthouse with six Double Bed rooms at Bankiput. This guesthouse is very close to the sea beach.
