Sudden death of veteran actor Om Puri





Om Puri
One of the most talented actors, Om Puri, who has acted in a number of Bollywood and Hollywood films, passed away on Friday morning at the age of 66 in his abode. Medical reports suggest that he has died from a major heart attack

According to reports, Puri returned home on Thursday evening after a shoot. The door alarm bells was not answered by anybody on Friday morning which raised a degree of suspicion in the mind of the driver and he raised for an alarm at that instant.

The actor has been awarded with two National Awards,two Filmfare awards including a Lifetime Achievement Award. The actor has successfully acted in more than three hundred films which span to more than four decades of hard-work. In December 2016, he went down his memory lane and tweeted about his film career - "I have no regrets at all. I have done quite well for myself. I didn't have a conventional face , but I have done well and I'm proud of it." Maybe, his 'not-so-conventional' gave him the conventional hallmark of a great actor! 

Om Puri studied at the Film and Television Institute of India,Pune and at the National School of Drama. A critically acclaimed actor, he has acted in some brain-wrenching films like 'Ardh Satya' , 'Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro' ,  'Akrosh' and many others. 

Puri has also laid some memorable stones in Hollywood. His memorable role opposite Helen Mirren in Steven Spielberg's 'The Hundred-Foot Journey' , an American comedy drama had also drawn attention. The actor has mesmerised audiences in Pakistan , India , and Britain apart from making a strong position in Hollywood with his roles in 'east is East' , ' City of Joy' , and 'Gandhi'. 

Shabana Azmi, however, shared on Twitter , "Om Puri undergoing post-mortem at Cooper Hospital. Will be taking to Trishul around 3pm Funeral at Oshiwara electric crematorium around 6 pm." That marks the end of an era.
