The results of the West Bengal Higher Secondary Examination 2023 and equivalent examinations have been announced in the month of May 2023. This Department has received queries from different State-aided Universities & Colleges regarding the admission modalities to be followed by them for the ensuing academic session 2023-2024.
The Expert Committee, constituted regarding implementation of the National Curriculum and Credit Framework (NCCF), vide UGC D.O. The competent authority in the State Government has accepted the recommendations of the Expert Committee and decided to introduce 4 year UG level programme in all HEIs, as stated above, from academic session 2023-2024.

From the next academic year, higher secondary passers will be able to apply for admission through a central portal. From the next academic year, higher secondary passers will be able to apply for admission through a central portal.

This time, the days of applying separately on various college or university portals for admission to graduate level are about to end. From the next academic year, higher secondary passers will be able to apply for admission through a central portal. The matter was at the level of thought for a long time. The higher education department issued a notification in this regard on Monday.

The state government has said that it has been working for a long time to bring transparency in the admission process in all government and government-affiliated colleges. It is for that purpose that this central portal is planned to be created. The notification was released within a week of the state cabinet headed by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee last Monday giving approval in this regard.

Until now colleges or universities had separate online admission system. Each college had to go to its own website to apply for admission and pay the fee. Not only that, the students had to face problems as the application deadlines for admission differed from college to college. Because of that many seats in many colleges would remain vacant. Keeping all these things in mind, the state government has thought of creating a central portal. It has been informed in the notification that it will be launched from the next academic year.

According to the notification, the portal will be maintained by the higher education department of the state. They will also do the maintenance. At the time of admission, the fee should be deposited in a designated bank account of the Parliament. The admission fee will be sent to the concerned college within one month of the admission process.

According to Bikash Bhavan sources, there have been complaints for a long time that students' unions demand huge sums of money from students during admissions at undergraduate level in colleges and universities. After that, the education department decided to make the college and university admission process online. Similarly, colleges and universities started the online admission process by setting up separate portals. But the Higher Education Department was in favor of bringing the matter under one umbrella so that the entire process could be directly monitored by the Education Department.
