Vidya Balan in the role of human computer" Shakuntala Devi in her upcoming biopic

Bollywood actress Vidya Balan will play the lead role of Indian mathematical genius Shakuntala Devi in her upcoming biopic. The film will be directed by Anu Menon and is set for summer 2020 release.

Vidya Balan is very much excited about her role in the film and said, "I am extremely excited to play the human computer, Shakuntala Devi, on the big screen. She was truly someone who embraced her individuality, had a strong feminist voice and braved many a naysayer to reach the pinnacle of success."


Never being received a formal education, Shakuntala Devi, a small town Indian girl, is widely known as the "human computer" and her ability to make incredibly swift calculations. The mathematical wizard has her name in the Guinness Book of World Records for demonstrating the multiplication of two 13-digit numbers by mental calculations. Her book 'The World Of Homosexuals' is also considered to be the first study of homosexuality in India.

Director Vishal Bhardwaj said, "Deepika has been asking me to write a script for her for a long time. She has heard this script and loved it. We are in an advanced stage of discussion with her."

The film is based mafia Queen Sapna Didi. Sapna Didi had planned Dawood's execution  during a cricket match in Sharjah to avenge her husband's death. Unfortunately for her, he got wind of her plans and killed her days before she could get to him. The film is expected to go on the floors by the end of 2017.

Director Dinesh Vijan and Rajkumar sat along with the team over a couple of days to get the final look in place. In addition to his look, his body posture and voice modulation had to be worked upon.

Rajkummar underwent five to six hours of prosthetic everyday to get into his character. In addition to that, his styling was important. He had to wear accessories and also have tattoos.

The film is based on the life of flight attendant Neerja Bhanot who was shot dead by terrorists who hijacked Pan Am Flight 73 in Karachi on 5 September 1986.

Neerja Bhanot was the senior flight purser in Pan Am Flight 73 flying from Mumbai to the USA and the plane was hijacked by four armed men at Karachi airport in Pakistan. There were 400 passengers. The terrorist wanted to redirect the plane towards Israel and crash it into a building. The pilot, co-pilot and the flight engineer evacuated the aircraft so that the aircraft could not be forcibly flown. Neerja Bhanot took charge.

The hijackers tried to identify the American passengers through passports but Neerja Bhanot and the other attendants hid the passports of the 41 Americans on board.

After 17 hours, the hijackers opened fire and set off explosives. Neerja Bhanot opened the emergency door and assisted all the passengers to escape. Neerja was shot by the hijackers and from a total of 41 American passengers, only 2 were killed during firing. One of the children,who was in that flight and then  aged 7, is now a captain for a major airline and has stated that Neerja Bhanot has been his inspiration and he owes every day of his life to her.

Neerja Bhanot is the youngest recipient of the Ashok Chakra Award, India's most prestigious gallantry award for bravery during peace time.

Porn star turned mainstream film heroine Sunny Leone’s upcoming film Mastizade will be released on 29 January 2016 and the film is an adult comedy. In the film Mastizade, Sunny Leone is playing dual roles and Tushar Kapoor and Vir Das are in male lead roles.

Sunny Leone was not confortable with some scenes and dialogues in the film Mastizade and she asked the director and producer to make changes. Sunny said "When I read the script, there were certain things which I told Milap that I cannot do because I was not comfortable with the dialogues and scenes. The best thing was Milap and my producer (Rangita Pritish Nandy) were accommodating and they made changes in the script and discussed options with me."

Sunny Leone will be seen in a dual role of Lily and Laila in film Mastizade.  The actress said about the characters "Laila is the typical bombshell and outrageous character and Lily is the complete opposite. She is shy and conservative. Playing double role was not tough because the whole crew organised each day so nicely that everything went well. I never felt that I am doing something difficult."
