Kaushik Ganguly directs Puja video for Suruchi Sangha Durga Puja 2016

Last year film director made the music video of Suruchi Sangha and this year it is Kaushik Ganguly. Ace filmmaker Kaushik Ganguly is in charge of making the theme song of Suruchi Sangha Durga Puja 2016. 

Suruchi Sangha Durga Puja is known as minister Arup Biswas's puja. The theme song, Prithibi ekta desh, is written by CM Mamata Banerjee, music is composed by Jeet Gannguli and Bollywood singer Palak Muchhal has lent her voice to the song.

Mamata Banerjee will contest from Bhawanipur in Assembly Election 2016

Rumour was that Mamata Banerjee may contest from two constituencies in West Bengal assembly elections 2016 but all speculations are over as the Trinamool Congress supremo will contest from Bhawanipore. Earlier it was said that Mamata Banerjee may contest from Bhawanipur and Burdwan.

CPM and Congress are jointly requesting former Supreme Court judge Ashok Kumar Ganguly to contest from Bhawanipur as an Independent candidate.

Mamata Banerjee won from Bhawanipur assembly constituency in 2011 West Bengal assembly election with a margin of 54,213 votes. Since 2014, a swing towards BJP is observed among Bhawanipur voters. In 2014 Lok Sabha polls, BJP’s candidate led the Bhawanipur assembly segment by 185 votes and in 2015Kolkata Municipal Corporation elections, BJP won two of the eight wards in Bhawanipur.

The above result is definitely encouraging for BJP and the party will select a strong candidate.

Suchitra Sen is dead

The end of legendary actress Suchitra Sen came at 8.25 am on 17 January 2014 due to heart failure.  Suchitra Sen is dead. The madame of Bengali film industry is no more in this world. Death of Suchitra Sen means end of an era. 

As on 12 January, condition of Suchitra Sen is very critical as her breathing difficulties increased and oxygen saturation level dipped further.

As on 13 January, actress Suchitra Sen continued to be in a critical condition and surviving on oxygen support and intravenous feeding.

On 16 January, doctor said that Suchitra Sen may be released from Belle Vue clinic on Saturday as there was sign of improvement in her condition. The end came when everyone was expecting that Suchitra Sen was recovering. 

The 82-year-old actress was suffering from fluctuating heart rate and oxygen saturation and was admitted to Belle Vue clinic on 23 December. Heart rate, blood pressure and oxygen saturation of Suchitra Sen were being constantly monitored and slight improvement was noticed by doctors. On 3 January 2014, Suchitra Sen’s condition starts deteriorating from 12 noon. Suchitra Sen was under treatment in the critical care unit (CCU)and was put under non-invasive ventilator support.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee went to Belle Vue clinic on 3 January and talked with doctors, Moon Moon Sen and assured them of any kind of help. Suchitra Sen came to know about it and she desired to meet Mamata Banerjee. Mamata Banerjee met Suchitra Sen on 5 January evening and she is the only public personality who met Suchitra Sen in last 35 years. 

Afterwards condition of Suchitra Sen improved but on 9 January again condition starts deteriorating. As on 10 January, Suchitra Sen's condition deteriorated in the afternoon, but stabilised later in the evening, though she was still not out of danger, doctors said.

Suchitra Sen started her filmy career with Bengali film Sharey Chuattor. Her films like Deep Jwele Jaai, Uttar Falguni, Saptapadi, Harano Sur, Saat Pake Bandha in Bengali language will be remembered for ever. Suchitra's Hindi film like Devdas, Bambai Ka Babu and Mamta also created craze in Bollywood.

Suchitra Sen won the best actress award for Saat Paake Bandha at the Moscow film festival in 1963 and quit acting in 1978.

After her retirement from films, Suchitra Sen was living a reclusive life and only meets her daughter Moon Moon Sen and granddaughters Raima and Riya Sen.

Suchitra Sen was born as Rama Dasgupta on 6 April 1931 at Pabna presently in Bangladesh. Suchitra Sen was in film industry from 1953 to 1979 and she was married to Dibanath Sen in 1947. Suchitra Sen's father Karunamoy Dasgupta was the headmaster of the local school and her mother Indira Devi was a homemaker.

Mamata Banerjee As Lyricist in Bengali Movie

Rumour is that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee may write songs of a new Bengali movie.

 We have seen Mamata Banerjee as an opposition leader and union minister in the past. Presently Mamata Banerjee is the Chief Minister of West Bengal. Mamata Banerjee loves to write poems and she is an amateur painter also. Mamata Banerjee has keen interest on songs, specially Rabindra Sangeet and Nazrul Geeti. All these about Mamata Banerjee is known to us but recent rumour is that Mamata Banerjee will write songs for a Bengali movie which will be made by another Trinamool Congress MLA Chiranjit Chakraborty.

It is learnt that the movie is based on girl trafficking. Let’s wait and watch if this rumour becomes true and may be Bengal movie industry will find a powerful lyricist in Mamata Banerjee.

Koel Mallick and Nishpal marriage on 1 February 2013

The date of marriage is finalized. Bengali actress Koel Mallick and her boyfriend Nishpal Singh will get married on 1 February 2013. Nishpal Singh is a producer of Bengali films.

Koel Mallick confirmed the marriage date and said that the marriage will follow the rituals of both Bengali and Punjabi marriage. It is learnt that both Mr. Ranjit Mallick and his wife are happy over the choice of their daughter.

Koel Mallick is also very excited about her marriage. Koel thinks that Nishpal is her best friend who has a clear vision about his life. Koel Mallick met Nishpal when she first joins the film industry and gradually they become close. Best of luck Koel!

West Bengal farmer in jail for uncomfortable question to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee

During Mamata Banerjee’s recent Belpahari visit, a farmer of that area put some uncomfortable question to chief minister Mamata Banerjee. Mamata Banerjee was in a public meeting there and police has arrested the man non-bailable offences.

The bus conductor turned farmer Shiladitya Choudhury broke the security ring of chief minister Mamata Banerjee and asked her a question regarding rising fertilizer prices.  Definitely the man was not in a polite tune. Mamata Banerjee said that the man is a Maoist and his intension was not fair.

Many questions are being raised after this incidence. How a man can break the high security zone of chief minister Mamata Banerjee specially when the meeting was going on at Belpahari where Maoists are very active? This is definitely a lapse in the part of security men who were there. Police may have taken the case with some degree of humanity. Farmers are really suffering from rice in prices of fertilizers and it may be the reason of such action although such behavior is not desirable. Non-bailable case  against such poor people is also not desirable if the man is not a criminal.

Mamata Banerjee and Predidential - Vice Presidential elections

West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee recently posted on Facebook that she got a letter from Pranab Mukherjee requsting to vote for him in the election for Indian President which will be held on 19 July 2012. Mamata Banerjee and Trinamool congress are yet to take any decision. On 18 July, just one day prior to the President election Mamata Banerjee will meet Trinamool Congress Mps and MLAs to take the decision. So the case is pending till the last day of election although political observers find a significant turn as Mamata Banerjee has posted about receiving the letter from Pranab Mukherjee.

So far as vice-presidential election on 7 August is concerned, Mamata Banerjee wanted Gopal Krishna Gandhi or Krishna Bose as candidate but both the names are rejected in UPA meeting. UPA nominated candidate is Hamid Ansari and CPI (M) has announced that they would vote for Hamid Ansari. Mamata Banerjee and Trinamool Congress will take decision on this matter also on Wednesday, 18 July 2012. 

NDA has announced the name of Jaswant Singh as their candidate in the vice-presidential poll.

Pranab Mukherjee in West Bengal seeking support

UPA candidate for Presidential elections Pranab Mukherjee is recently in Kolkata. Mr. Pranab Mukherjee will meet with Congress leaders and MPs and MLAs of Left parties who will back him in forthcoming Presidential election. In this recent trip of Pranab Mukherjee in West Bengal, there is no chance of any type of talk between him and Mamata Banerjee. Countdown started – Singur case verdict on 22 June 2012

A Division Bench of the Calcutta High Court will deliver their verdict on Singur case tomorrow. After coming to power Trinamool Congress led state government passed the Land Rehabilitation and Development Act, 2011 to reclaim nearly 1,000 acres at the abandoned Tata Motors factory land in Singur. Tata Motors moved to court against the state government’s action and tomorrow the verdict will be delivered.

 Singur land case is a sensitive issue for Mamata Banerjee and Trinamool Congress. The agitation of Mamata Banerjee against the proposed Tata Motors nano car factory at Singur made Singur famous. Singur issue helped Mamata Banerjee to come in power.  Mamata Banerjee proposed that there will be a factory in nearly 600 acres of land and the remaining 400 acres of land will be handed over to unwilling farmers.

Mamata Sonia meeting over candidate for President of India is over

Just few minutes ago, the meeting between Mamata Banerjee and Sonia Gandhi ended. Sonia Gandhi has indicated that Pranab Mukherjee is the first choice of Congress party for their candidate in 13^th President of India. The next choice of Congress is Vice President Hamid Ansari.

 Mamata Banerjee will now meet Mulayam Singh Yadav now and after that she discuss with her partymen and will issue her statements.

After the meeting between Sonia and Mamata, it is clear now that Pranab Mukherjee is the President candidate for Congress party. Mulayam Singh Yadav has already said that he ready to accept politician in the post of President of India. On the other hand Mamata Banerjee is not very happy with union finance minister Pranab Mukherjee over many financial issues of the state. Everyone is waiting what Mamata says after meeting with Mulayam Singh Yadav. Previously Mamata Banerjee indicated that she has no objection if Hamid Ansari becomes the candidate for President's post.
